WWCPJ Country Spotlight: Malaysia!!!!

Alright, I know you guys have missed the WWCPJ series so here I am with it. Much apologies for the lack of updates.

The parcel is now on it's way from Canada to Singapore and the 6th recipient is Bumbley from Canada =) . I have been withholding that information because I wanted everything to settle down before announcing. The truth is, Min (our 6th participant) was having a lot of problems finding the 7th recipient because everyone she selected either didn't respond to her email or MIAed. Annoyance much =/

Anyway, in line with the Worldwide Cosplayer Photo Journey, here is the country spotlight for our 6th participant, Min from Malaysia ^_^!

*****************************************************

Malaysia (Listeni /məˈleɪsiə/ mə-lay-see-ə) is a federal constitutional monarchy in Southeast Asia. It consists of thirteen states and three federal territories and has a total landmass of 329,847 square kilometres (127,350 sq mi).

The capital city is Kuala Lumpur, while Putrajaya is the seat of the federal government. The population is over 27.5 million.

The country is multi-ethnic and multi-cultural country. Malaysia is located at the southernmost point of continental Eurasia, Tanjung Piai. The country is situated near the equator and experiences a tropical climate. Malaysia also has a biodiverse range of flora and fauna, and is considered a mega diverse country.

Malaysia Tourism Infomercial

The word Melayu is thought to derive from the Sanskrit term Malaiur or Malayadvipa which can be translated as "land of mountains", the word was used by ancient Indian traders when referring to the Malay Peninsula. Other theories proposed that it originated from the Tamil word "Malai".

Cosplay Photos and more inside the cut!

Our WWCPJ 6th participant Riko, is from the province, Penang.

Penang Museum, Farquhar Street.

Kek Lok Si Temple

Penang is a state located on the northwest coast of Peninsular Malaysia by the Strait of Malacca. It is the second smallest Malaysian state in area after Perlis, and the eighth most populous. Heavily industrialized Penang is one of the most developed and economically important in the country, as well as a thriving tourist destination. Its heterogeneous population is highly diverse in ethnicity, culture, language, and confessions. A resident of Penang is colloquially known as a Penangite.

Malaysia is a mega diverse country with a high number of species and high levels of endemism. Not only does the country contains largely diverse wildlife, she is also estimated to contain 20% of the world's animal species.

About two thirds of Malaysia is covered in forest believed to be 130 million years old. It is composed of a variety of types, although they are mainly dipterocarp forests. There are around 14,500 species of flowering plants and trees. Besides rainforests, there are over 1,425 square kilometres (550 sq mi) of mangroves in Malaysia, and a large amount of peat forest.

Some species of Rafflesia can grow up to 1 metre (3 ft) in diameter, making them the largest flowers in the world

Malaysia's Exclusive economic zone is 1.5 times larger than its land area, and some of its waters are in the Coral Triangle, a biodiversity hotspot. The waters around Sipadan island are the most biodiverse in the world. Bordering East Malaysia, the Sulu Sea is a biodiversity hotspot, with around 600 coral species and 1200 fish species.

There are about 210 mammal species in the country and over 620 species of birds have been recorded on the Peninsular alone.

Deer Cave, Borneo Malaysia

Every time I see pictures and videos of astounding places like these, I ask myself the question “ What are you doing here, in your tiny room of concrete walls ?!”. I really want to travel and see places like these…

And finally the thing everyone’s waiting for; Cosplay photographs!

I’m sure there are a million more of these awesome Malaysian Cosplayers not featured here. And pardon me for featuring so much photos from the same photographer/ Cosplayers >.<

Malaysia is a country that has always been around me (Pun intended xD) ever since I could remember. I must admit, I wasn’t keen on doing an entry for a country that is just a bridge away from mine. And the uncountable amount of times I’ve been there doesn’t help ignite passion either.

But this research has allowed me to a discover a whole new side of Malaysia and made me appreciate her abundant nature! I never knew Malaysia had such awesome caves and beaches! And yes, this entry has made me resolute to visit those caves one day!

As usual, you guys know how long I’ve slaved over this entry. Spare me some love by leaving a comment alright ^_^?
